A 1775 Eye Witness Account of Jamaica Plain (Event Video)
Hidden Jamaica Plain presents a compelling look into the lives of various women at the outbreak of the American Revolution. Using a letter written by Sarah Winslow Deming the presenters outline how she escaped British-occupied Boston and took temporary refuge in Jamaica Plain. Lucinda, whom she enslaved, was with her. Speakers Mimi Pichey, Natalie Eldridge and Emily Curran of Hidden Jamaica Plain share their research on Deming’s vivid account of their escape and on Lucinda’s life.
