Bussey Institute, 305 South Street, Jamaica Plain on land donated to Harvard University by Benjamin Bussey, adjacent to the present-day Arnold Arboretum. Designed by the Peabody & Stearns in a Victorian Gothic style, construction began in 1871. It served as Harvard's undergraduate school of agriculture and horticulture, and later as a biological research institute. The building was demolished in 1971.

A 1910 Boston medical directory lists Emerson Hospital as a private, 50-bed hospital at 29 Morton Street, Forest Hills, organized in 1904. By 1926, Boston’s official Streets, Squares, Places… directory lists “Emerson Hospital, 118 Forest Hills”—while separately listing Forest Hills Hospital at 29 Morton.
