3 Centuries of a Black Family in JP, from Slavery to Freedom (Event Video)

Hidden Jamaica Plain researchers present the remarkable multi-generational story of a resilient Black family whose history spanned three centuries, intertwined with the history of Jamaica Plain and local Black and Indigenous communities. Enslaved in the 1700s, Peter Bridgham gained his freedom and established a Centre Street homestead that nurtured four generations. Recorded October 18, 2026 at the First Church in Jamaica Plain. Speakers Mimi, Thalia and Nancy of Hidden Jamaica Plain share their research on this remarkable family.
