Dr Catia Cecilia Confortini from the Wellesley Colllege Peace and Justice Studies Program speaks on Emily Greene Balch. Confortini reflects on the legacy of Balch, not only as an scholar and thinker but also as a teacher and activist. Her work for peace and justice are relevant for today's world, which continues to be mired in the violence of racism and imperialism.

She was appointed as the first Supervisor of Mother’s Aid for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a position she held until she retired in 1943 at the age of 70. After retirement she moved to 49 Prince Street, where she lived until her death in 1950.
